Southwell – GLOBAL CITIZEN has his first run for Ben Pauling and can make a winning start for new connections. Global Citizen changed hands for £275,000 after landing an Irish point-to-point and won on his debut under Rules in a Worcester bumper. He also acquitted himself wellt when second to Clondaw Castle at Huntingdon before his ‘transfer’ from Jonjo O’Neill’s yard. The other outstanding form candidate is the Dan Skelton-trained Ashkoul, a winner at Market Rasen last time in the hands of today’s rider, Bridget Andrews. Wolverhampton – ARCANADA (nb) is on a hot streak on the all-weather and can land this cracking at the Midlands track. On a hat-trick after two wins at Lingfield, Arcanada can do the business for the jockey-trainer combination of Richard Kingscote and Tom Dascombe. Mr Owen was formerly trained in France, where he won two Listed races at Deauville and he returned to that course to win another Listed prize for his new trainer, David Simcock, in December. Wolverhampton – GALACTIC STAR (nap) can make it second time lucky after running a race full of promise on his debut over the course in December. Marco Botti’s beautifully-bred chestnut colt went under by a length and a half to Mr Reckless over a mile and half-a-furlong. The danger is the penalised Jackfinbar, who has to give 4lb to the nap. He won nicely over course and distance last time and looks sure to maker a race of it with Galactic Star. Wolverhampton – SAMOVAR (treble) can make up for a desperately unlucky run at Southwell last time out, where he suffered a terrible run before going down by only a neck to Magic Pulse. Scott Dixon’s runner can ragain the losses here in a moderate affair. Best of the rest is the Joseph Tuite-trained Avon Green, who ran well last time when second behind Sir Hector at Lingfield.
