BURGER IS BANG OUT OF ORDER

Takeaway ‘rape joke’ fury

- By LAURA NEIL news@dailystar.co.uk

A TAKEAWAY has caused a storm by serving up a “Gang Bang Burger”.

Parents want it taken off the menu before their children start asking what the name means.

The Khan Pizza takeaway is proudly advertising the £6 supersize snack of four chicken burgers topped with cheese, onion, mushrooms and egg in an 8in bread cake to customers of all ages.

But mother Anita Robinson was horrified when she spotted the offending poster in the shop window.

She said: “I’m about as liberal as they come, but I do not want to have to explain to my kids what a gang bang is.

“It’s shocking. The Gang Bang Burger sends a very clear message to young men, who may be drunk, that this sort of thing is acceptable. It needs to go.”

The dictionary says a gang bang is: “An instance of sexual intercourse between one woman and several men, one after the other, especially against her will.”

Mrs Robinson said: “If it was called the ‘Threesome Burger’ that would be quite different. But it’s not.

“Whatever way you look at this, there are violent connotations associated with the word gang bang.” She added: “I think it is entirely inappropriate that a takeaway should name a burger after it.”

Asfand Khan, manager of the takeaway in Princes Avenue, Hull, said the name was not intended to be disrespectful.

He said: “It’s just a catchy name.

“It’s a takeaway, it’s not a church or a mosque. It’s a bit of banter, a bit of fun.”

But Katie Russell, of Rape Crisis England and Wales, said: “It’s extremely poor taste.

“We’d be very interested to hear why this takeaway thought this name was appropriate. If this is an attempt at a joke, it’s definitely a misfire.

“The name chosen by this takeaway is crass. It trivialises rape and sexual assault.

“This is not something to joke about.”
