RUGBY SIX NATIONS ALUN FIRED-UP OVER SLUR BY COACH JONES

- By PETE SAMSON

ANGRY Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones will front up to England coach Eddie Jones after today’s Six Nations collision at Twickenham.

Jones blasted the Wales captain on Thursday, accusing him of intimidating referees and acting outside the spirit of the game.

He said he had written to World Rugby, complaining about Wyn Jones blocking Finn Russell from taking a quick conversion in last Saturday’s big win over Scotland in Cardiff.

Jones said: “He tried to stop the referee from allowing the kick. We can’t have that in the game.”

World Rugby have said Wyn Jones ® has no case to answer and now he wants answers from the England stand up to England marauders coach over the accusations. Jonathan Joseph, Chris Robshaw

Spirit

“World Rugby, when they were asked for clarification, came back and essentially said they saw nothing untoward with what happened.

“More importantly, Pascal (referee Pascal Gauzere) had no issue at the time and no issue after the game.

“I’m very grateful that Eddie has flagged that up with World Rugby. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and keep within the spirit of the game.”

Wyn Jones blocked Russell because he wanted Gauzere to consult the Television Match Official and review a try by Scotland’s Peter Horne.

He added: “I had got to ask the questions because there was a game in the autumn where, had we reviewed play against South Africa, a try probably wouldn’t have stood.

“It is important if someone wants to seek clarity they get that. It’s just pleasing that World Rugby clarified nothing untoward had happened.”

Jones also put pressure on Wales’ inexperienced stand-off Rhys Patchell, who will win only his seventh cap, asking if he had the bottle to ENGLAND: REPLACEMENTS: WALES: REPLACEMENTS:
