Cup rout fires up Swans

- By JAMES CANDY

® SWANSEA boss Carlos Carvalhal says his strikers are ready to fire Swansea to safety after their FA Cup goal spree. Tammy Abraham ended a 14-game drought to net a double and Nathan Dyer bagged a brace in the Swans’ 8-1 thrashing of Notts County on Tuesday.

They are still the Premier League’s lowest scorers with only 19 goals but Carvalhal reckons that is about to change.

He said: “Even if they were League Two opposition it was still difficult. We made the game against Notts County look easy.

“It was important for confidence because we scored some very nice goals and we had a good dynamic in our play.

“The players performed very well and we played with a lot of players in attack.

“Tammy, Nathan, Luciano Narsingh and Wayne Routledge gave us four attackers. They all had different roles but they did them very well. It was good for their confidence.”

Danger

The in-form Swans are out to make it nine games unbeaten with a win over Burnley at the Liberty Stadium to move further away from relegation danger.

Andre Ayew is set to feature after re-signing from West Ham in a £20m deadline day move.

And he reckons his relationship with brother Jordan can help them leave the relegation places behind.

He said: “We have played together before with Marseille and mostly with the national team. We are here and we hope we can do something great.

“Being here is good, but the important thing is getting results for this club.

“We have enjoyed playing together, we understand each other very well but this is all talk. We have done it before, we have to do it again.

“Right now, he is confident and so can do what he does best. When you have the support of your team-mates, of the fans, the manager, it makes a difference.”
