HOLLYWOOD stars led the outcry over US gun controls after the latest school shooting bloodbath.
Twisted Nikolas Cruz faces the death penalty for killing 17 in Florida, including much-loved student Jaime Guttenberg.
SCHOOL shooter Nikolas Cruz is facing the death penalty over 17 counts of premeditated murder.
The 19-year-old, who wore a gas mask and set off smoke grenades during his attack, appeared in court last night. He wore an orange jumpsuit, and had both his hands and ankles shackled.
He spoke only to confirm his name with a polite “yes ma’am” to the judge and mostly gazed at the floor. Cruz appeared via videolink from Broward County jail flanked by a handful of sheriff ’s deputies and prison officials.
Standing next to him was his female lawyer. He is on suicide watch in custody after threatening to kill himself, one official confirmed.
Eleven of the youngsters and all three school staff members who died were named and pictured last night. Grief-stricken dad Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime, 14, was among those gunned down, said: “My heart is broken.”
The family of Alaina Petty, also 14, said: “There are no hashtags for moments like this, only sadness.”
US authorities are facing questions over whether the tragedy could have been prevented.
Fellow pupils said “everyone predicted” that the “weird” teen would “shoot up the school”. But police denied they knew he was dangerous.
