Wayne & Coleen drop the K in Ali tribute Joy at boy number 4
FANS reckon Wayne Rooney changed his habit of giving all his children names beginning with “K” in homage to Muhammad Ali.
The Everton star’s wife Coleen, 31, announced the arrival of Cass Mac Rooney early yesterday.
The 8lb 10oz tot is the couple’s fourth son after Kai, eight, Klay, four, and two-year-old Kit.
Wayne tweeted a pic of himself with his boys, writing: “5-a-side team complete! Welcome to the world Cass.”
While many seemed baffled by their name choice, some reckoned they had rumbled the mystery behind it. One of Roo’s sporting idols is ex-heavyweight champ Ali, whose real name was Cassius Clay.
Soren Lorensen tweeted: “Fair play to Rooney for managing to call his kids Cass and Klay. Probably some misguided tribute to Muhammad Ali, who hated his original name.” Another said: “It’s in honour of ® Muhammad Ali – surely everyone can see that! Cassius Clay. Couldn’t be anything else.”
Coleen wrote: “So Happy to welcome our Baby Boy .... Cass Mac Rooney into the world weighing a healthy 8lb 10oz. He is beautiful.”
The Everton account wrote: “Huge congratulations, WayneRooney, @ColeenRoo and family. Another Blue is born!”
Supporters blitzed the couple with goodwill messages.
One said: “Omg beautiful name. You should of spelt it ‘Kass’ to stick with the tradition. Congratulations.”
While another joked: “He will manage a full team of Rooneys if he carries on.”
But Villa Mad wrote: “So the Rooneys have called their latest son Cass Mac. Are these people on a different planet?”
Kieran Lannigan said: “Cass Mac Rooney though – soz but it sounds like a promo burger at Maccies.”
The new arrival marks the end of a tough time for the couple after Wayne was caught drink-driving in party girl Laura Simpson’s car while Coleen was on holiday.
