Attack hero’s up for award

-

A HERO ambulance man confronted a killer holding a chainsaw.

Julian Rudge, 54, arrived at a house with a colleague to find a woman’s body on the floor.

Standing next to the victim was the attacker with a running chainsaw.

Julian managed to calm the killer, protecting nearby members of the public, until police arrived and made a peaceful arrest.

The first responder is now up for a bravery award for facing “extreme personal danger”.

A Welsh Government spokesman said: “Julian showed great presence of mind and bravely took control of the potentially very dangerous situation.

“He made sure his colleague was safely out of harm’s way and used his excellent communications skills to calm and reassure the attacker until the police arrived.”

Julian, of Caerphilly, Gwent, will be up against two others in the St David Awards being held by the Welsh government next month.

He has already won an ambulance service staff award.

First Minister Carwyn Jones said: “Once again, the finalists are an exceptional group of people.

“Every single one is a credit to Wales.” HAIRDRESSER Casey Coleman is offering genderneutral prices – with cuts being charged by the length of hair to be free of “gender bias” in Cardiff.
