BAGGIES DON’T DESERVE TO STAY UP

CHRISTOPHER SCHINDLER says West Brom don’t deserve to stay up after losing to Huddersfield.
The Baggies are speeding towards the Championship like a taxi with its brakes cut.
Boss Alan Pardew knows his neck is on the line after managing just one victory in his 14 games in charge.
They probably need to win at least six of their remaining games 10 games – hard to see when they have won only one of their last 26 league fixtures.
Their only ray of light is their next five games are all supposedly ‘winnable’, against Watford (a), Leicester (h), Bournemouth (a), Burnley (h) and Swansea (h).
But Terriers star Schindler reckons the Baggies will struggle to stay up after helping his side extend the gap over the bottom club to 10 points.
Schindler said: “I think for them now it’s going to be really, really tough.
“If you can’t win these games, you have no right to stay in the top flight.
“We are still in a serious situation, but we are still in a position where we can help ourselves and that’s really important. We’re in a really crucial point of the season.”
Early second-half mistakes gifted goals to Robin van La Parra and Steve Mounie and from then on it was always going to be uphill for the home side. Craig Dawson, who was one of a handful of players to emerge with any credit, gave Albion hope with a great 64th-minute header.
How different things might have been had James McClean not volleyed over from eight yards.
McClean was trying but it was only when his replacement Chris Brunt came on that Albion started to ask serious questions of the visitors.
It was noticeable at the end that only Brunt and Salomon Rondon felt comfortable enough to acknowledge supporters.
They went right up to them and were applauded by fans who know they are giving their all.
All 11 on the pitch need to give nothing less from now on if they – and Pardew – have the remotest chance of surviving.
