Everyone a winner on night

NOT all the stars will land a coveted Oscar this weekend – but still everybody’s a winner.

That’s because all 26 nominees for the big prizes will get a luxury goodie bag, worth at least £75,000.

The swag includes holidays to Hawaii and Tanzania, plus diamonds, personal training sessions, a spa break and a lifetime supply of foundation.

Slightly less impressive contents include pretzels, a Mexican fizzy drink, oranges, underarm patches to hide sweat and a box of motivational quotes.

The Academy does not hand out its own goodie bags any more for tax reasons and they are now provided by Distinctive Assets.

Now it is called the Everybody Wins bag and will not be handed out at the ceremony but will give companies a chance to get their stuff snapped with a celeb.

This year’s 90th Academy Awards is proving to be one of the closest-run contests yet.

But search engine Bing has predicted Gary Oldman will win his first Oscar for his turn as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

But the film is expected to lose out to The Shape Of Water for Best Picture gong.

The fantasy about a cleaner who falls in love with a sea creature has a 30% chance of winning, according to Bing.

It is ahead of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (23%), comedy Lady Bird (11%) and Brit horror movie Get Out (10%).

Frances McDormand has a 56% chance of being named Best Actress for her Three Billboards role as a mother challenging local police to solve her daughter’s murder.

Saoirse Ronan, Sally Hawkins, Margot Robbie and three-time winner Meryl Streep are also in the running.

Sam Rockwell picked up a Golden Globe for his role as a racist cop in Three Billboards and is likely to repeat that success while Allison Janney seems a shoo-in for Best Supporting Actress for her role in I, Tonya. ¬

The live action kicks off at 1.30am UK time on Monday but you can also watch on the Sky Cinema Oscars channel from midnight. Or it is available on NOW TV through the Sky Cinema Pass.
