‘I’ll punish him for his lack of

Respect’ roars KELL BROOK

- By CHRIS McKENNA

® has to fight me now, he knows he can’t keep running. There are other big fights out there for him, but they don’t bring in big money like ours would.

“If we fight, the whole of Britain will be talking about it – especially if we look good in our next fights.

“The build-up would be massive, the wind-ups, the talk. I just want to fight him.

“He’s never had any respect for me, not even when I won a world title.

“But I’m going to punish him for it, I’m going to slap him around the ring.”

Khan recently signed for Brook’s longterm promoter Eddie Hearn, which has increased the chances of the fight happening.

The pair have spent years arguing over a deal to face each other, with both unwilling to be seen as the lesser side of the negotiations, even when Brook was IBF welterweight champion.

Upset

But the hope is now, with them both in the same promotional stable, that a fight can be made, which would likely take place at a catchweight as Khan is continuing as a welterweight.

“At first I was upset when Eddie signed him,” said Brook. “But then I spoke with Eddie and it makes sense. Eddie will make sure we both get the right deal financially for ourselves.”

Hearn is looking to get Brook out again in the summer before securing a big fight at the end of the year.

The promoter said: “Kell could fight for a world title but the Khan fight is big. It’s big now, but it would be huge if they both look good in their next fights.”

Brook first must prove he still has what it takes against a challenging opponent in Rabchenko in Sheffield.

Brook needed surgery to repair broken eye sockets after the defeats to Golovkin and Spence Jnr.
