SWANSEA manager Carlos Carvalhal reckons Andre Ayew is ready to hit top form just in time to face his former side West Ham.

The Ghanaian forward only managed three Premier League goals for the Hammers this season before he returned to the Liberty Stadium on transfer deadline day in January.

But Carvalhal has warned David Moyes that West Ham’s loss will be Swansea’s gain in the battle against relegation.

“Andre is a player that has progressed since he arrived and is getting better and better and better,” said Carvalhal.

“Day by day, week by week, he is getting better and now we are near to seeing the best of him.

“We are happy about that. I believe we will need him because he can create a big impact in the game.

Adapt

“He struggled physically because he was injured and it took time to adapt to the different way that we play.

“After this moment I can tell you he is in the best shape since he arrived.”

Last weekend’s 4-1 thumping at Brighton sent Swansea back into the bottom three.

But their midweek FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday was their sixth home victory in a row.

The season began with five defeats from six home matches, but Carvalhal is now enjoying their home comforts.

He said: “The players were talking about how they felt a lot of confidence because of the behaviour of the fans.

“The fans are giving them confidence and the atmosphere is great. The fans trust more in the players and the team.

“The players have taken this feedback very well. Good fans stick by you when things aren’t in a good way, especially when we make mistakes.”
