It’s Scott to be Lions for Mac

- by JEREMY CROSS

MANCHESTER UNITED star Scott McTominay will snub Scotland in favour of pledging his international future to England.

The midfielder qualifies for both countries as he was born in England but has a Scottish dad.

Scotland boss Alex McLeish travelled to United’s Carrington training complex on Thursday in a bid to persuade him to link up with his squad.

But Three Lions chief Gareth Southgate has also met the 21-year-old in the hope of netting him.

A source said: “Scott was approached by Scotland months ago but told them he wasn’t interested at that time because he wanted to focus on getting into the United side. But that was also an excuse, because he wanted England to come calling. “He was born in England and considers himself English.” United boss Jose Mourinho, whose side face Crystal Palace on Monday, has confirmed he expects Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season. The 36-yearold has been sidelined since Boxing Day with a fresh recurrence of the serious knee injury he suffered last season. The Swede is expected to join MLS outfit LA Galaxy and Mourinho said: “With Zlatan, we all think it’s his last season at Manchester United. “It will be a very personal decision for him to play or to stop. I think he has won the right to choose his future. “He’s such an amazing player and had an amazing career.”
