JACK’S OUTGROWN WENGER FLOPS

-

IS THERE a more damning indictment of Arsenal’s pitiful demise than the club’s treatment of Jack Wilshere?

‘Jack the Lad’ has grown up at the Gunners after spending almost two decades with the London club.

He made his debut in 2008 as a 16-year-old and should be part of their DNA. Someone to cherish, appreciate and encourage to fulfil his enormous potential.

Forget the ramblings of Roy Keane, who described him recently as the most overrated player he had ever seen. Keane likes to be controversial for the sake of it, to justify his huge salary as a TV pundit.

Take a look around English football and show me a better midfielder than Wilshere when fit and on form. Jordan Henderson? Jake Livermore? Harry Winks? Eric Dier? Do me a favour.

Dani Alves once described Wilshere as a ‘fantastic footballer’ and compared his talent to that of Andres Iniesta and Xavi, while Bastian Schweinsteiger labelled him one of the best in the world in his position.

Talent

Keane was a fantastic footballer, make no mistake, but the likes of Alves, Xavi and Schweinsteiger have won more medals at all levels than the Irishman ever did.

So how can it be that Wilshere is now considering turning his back on a club that is supposed to have the ethos, talent, drive and ambition he himself embodies?
