Alexis threat to Roy

- by IAN WINROW

ROY HODGSON fears Alexis Sanchez could hit Crystal Palace’s survival hopes for a second time in three months.

Sanchez’s two-goal blast in December secured Arsenal’s 3-2 win at Selhurst Park.

The striker has scored just once since then – his only goal in seven matches since his move to Manchester United.

But Palace boss Hodgson dismissed claims the Chile hitman’s edge has been blunted following his switch to Old Trafford.

And after seeing his side fall into the bottom three again, the Eagles boss knows Sanchez

(below) poses a major threat when United visit south London tonight.

Hodgson, whose side also face Chelsea and Liverpool this month, said: “We are going to be playing against a very good player and if we give him a lot of time and space, he is likely to succeed.

“He is a very good player. I can’t make any comparisons about his style at Manchester United and his style at Arsenal. But we know he’s a very good player.”

Hodgson added: “I don’t follow them that closely. What I see of Manchester United is Match of the Day and you know from Match of the Day, there is as much talking and analysis as the excerpts.

“And the excerpts from the game are edited so you don’t quite know what you are seeing.

“He cost an awful lot of money, of course, to make Manchester United a better team.

“I just presume that the extra scrutiny he is receiving at the moment is down to the fact it was such a major high-profile transfer at the end of the transfer window.”
