BULLDOG BOUNCES BACK

-

Trevor ‘Bulldog’ Bolton – one of the greatest wrestlers Britain has ever known – has spoken of his friends’ daring plan to save their local pub.

The former fighter has found himself in the awkward position of working for property developer Paul Peterson, who wants to bulldoze The Half Nelson, the pub where his son Mark is landlord.

Now Trevor is backing his wrestling troupe the Panthers in their fundraising bid.

“Nothing meant more than being in the ring with the Panthers – they’re my wrestling family,” he said.

“In the 1980s we pulled in audiences of millions. Now we’re pulling pints – and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Trevor and his friends will be donning the spandex once more and remembering the moves he hasn’t performed for decades.

He added: “It won’t be easy. We’re trying to turn the clock back nearly 30 bleeding years!”

As well as getting back together with his old mates in the Panthers, this reunion could also help Bulldog rebuild his relationship with his son.

Friends have told how while Mark idolised his grappler dad, he felt ignored.

One commented: “Bulldog always seemed to have more time for the Panthers than his own kid.”

Mark had, until recently, developed a close bond with Bulldog’s best friend, Ginger Frost.

But after Ginger’s sad death the insider added: “Ginger was like a surrogate dad to Mark.

“Let’s hope father and son can find a way to work through their problems and finally forge a real relationship.”
