Wood you believe it?

BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Calum Scott has thanked Little Mix for supporting him and the LGBT community.

After years of feeling he had to hide his sexuality from the world, the Dancing On My Own singer is now out and proud. And it’s mainstream artists such as Little Mix, whose hit Secret Love Song deals with an LGBT relationship, who have made it less of a taboo. Calum told me: “It’s so important we have artists like this for the LGBT community. “When you look at the charts they are under-represented – most songs play on that boy-girl scenario. “Little Mix with Secret Love Song played a huge part and, hopefully, if we continue having these role models it will come to a point where love is just love.” The Yorkshire-born singer’s debut album Only Human, out now, took two long years to make while he searched for the right words and voice to tell his own coming-out story. He said: “Now I feel I’m standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Sam Smith and Sia, all these openly-gay artists that talk about it. “I have never felt more empowered. Before I was writing about what I thought people wanted to hear, going to the club and partying, but it wasn’t me so I started being more personal.” THE new Years & Years LP sounds a tad phallic.

Olly Alexander said: “The album’s centred around a motif of Palo Santo, a healing incense-like wood that you burn and waft around a room. Palo Santo literally means ‘holy wood’ and I was like: ‘This is f***ing perfect.’ Like, thinking that your d*** is holy? I’ve known guys like that.” Cheryl
