AISLE BE ON TOP OF THE WORLD

Quigg reveals wedding day plan

-

SCOTT QUIGG has vowed to stun Oscar Valdez – so he can get married as a world champion.

The Bury featherweight challenges the big-punching Mexican for his WBO title tonight.

Among the 200 Brits in the crowd at the StubHub Center will be Quigg’s fiancee Bev, who firmly supported his relocation to Los Angeles last year.

Now Quigg has revealed he is planning to finally tie the knot next year but wants to do it while he has a belt to his name.

The 29-year-old said: “I’ve been engaged for five years now but I’m thinking probably next year we will get married.

“She doesn’t know that yet but she’s going on about it all the time.

“I want to get married as a world champion and this is my chance to make sure that happens.”

Quigg is up against it with against ® from DECLAN TAYLOR in L.A. unbeaten Valdez, who has been tipped as a superstar in waiting.

He is a big favourite with the bookies but Quigg believes that will make a shock win on his American debut even sweeter.

Career

The former WBA ‘regular’ superbantamweight champion said: “The main thing is coming here and getting the biggest win of my career.

“When I go out there on Saturday and beat Valdez I become a two-weight world champ and the top dog in the division.

“I know what I have to do and I’m going to go out there and do it. It’s my first fight on American soil but this is my third camp where I’m here for 10 weeks at a time. It feels like home.

“Plus it’s forecast to rain on fight night and being from Bury I’ll be used to that – I’ll be dancing in the rain.”

Carl Frampton told Starsport this week he hopes Quigg beats Valdez so they can have a rematch of their Battle of Britain in 2016.

Josh Warrington also faces Lee Selby for his IBF title, meaning there is money to be made back across The Pond in the featherweight division.

Quigg added: “Do I want to head back and get in the mix with that lot? Not really, no.

“They didn’t want to dabble before now so once I win here, it will be whatever I want next.”
