Pep hit by £20k FA fine

- By JEREMY CROSS

PEP GUARDIOLA has been fined £20,000 by the FA for wearing his yellow ribbon.

The Manchester City boss has been hit in the pocket and warned about his future conduct after admitting a charge of breaching rules regarding kit and advertising.

Guardiola’s decision to wear the ribbon in support of jailed politicians in Catalonia was regarded as a political statement.

He accepted the charge and a three-man panel from the FA met to decide his punishment.

But he has refused to apologise and vowed to continue wearing the ribbon underneath his clothing while standing on the touchline during games.

Precise

Guardiola, meanwhile, fears he’s got the Monday blues ahead of his side’s trip to Stoke next week.

The Spanish boss will take his side to face the Potters admitting he hates Monday matches.

City lost to Wigan in the FA Cup as well as drawing with Everton in the Premier League on a Monday and Guardiola said: “In Barcelona, I remember when we played on Monday, a long time ago, and always it was not good.

“At Wigan we lost because we played for 55 minutes with 10 against 11, and we weren’t precise enough to score a goal.

“But I reviewed the game and we did it quite well. We did it well enough to go through.

“I prefer weekends, though, when all the teams play, but Manchester United played on Monday against Crystal Palace.

“It’s just my experience – and I don’t like it.”
