JOE’S GIVEN FRESH HART

- By JON WEST

JOE HART has been given a World Cup lifeline by David Moyes.

England’s first choice goalkeeper since 2010 has seen his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for Russia dented by lack of game time at West Ham.

The 30-year-old has not played in the Premier League since November 29 – when he let in four goals at Everton.

But after Adrian let in eight in his last two matches, Hart

(right) is back for today’s visit of Burnley.

Hammers boss Moyes said: “Joe Hart will start. It’s not necessarily down to the last two games but I wasn’t happy with goals we conceded.

“I’ve got competition in some places and you have to play well. There’s big pressure if you don’t perform.”

The Hammers have won one of their last six league games and remain in danger of the drop, leaving many fans furious with the board. A protest march planned for today has been called off but a confrontation between a group of Hammers fans and co-owner David Gold after last week’s 4-1 thrashing at Swansea left a bitter taste. Moyes said: “It’s great for the players and management they are not marching. The atmosphere at some games has been tremendous and we need that on Saturday. “There are grievances at any club against managers or owners, all you want to do is make sure that the club is in the right position. “We hope at the game we have all our fans getting behind the team.”
