Cure on a plant

A MINERAL rarely found on Earth which can be used to treat cancer has been discovered on plants in the UK.

Vaterite has so far been traced on a few sea creatures, rocks and meteorites.

But it has now appeared on alpine plants at Cambridge University’s Botanic Garden.

A spokeswoman for the Botanic Garden said vaterite has properties “that enable it to deliver a sustained and targeted release” of medicines used to treat cancer.
