GLASGOW ROCKS’ head coach Darryl Wood praised the team’s fans after his side made it eight straight victories at home in the BBL.

The Rocks claimed their 16th league win of the season as they defeated Cheshire Phoenix 89-85 on Sunday at the Emirates Arena.

“I want to say a massive thanks to all the Rocks fans,” Wood said.

“The atmosphere was electric and it’s what carries us through and gives the players extra energy.

“Credit to Cheshire too – we knew the game was going to be close as they keep everyone close and they made some huge plays to make it an exciting game.”

Scotland and Great Britain international Gareth Murray netted a crucial three-pointer in the final minute of the game to help the Rocks over the line as he finished with a team-high 18 points.

“We made some big plays when it mattered,” added Wood.

“Huge credit to our players – it’s a great win for the organisation.”

Glasgow face Sheffield Sharks next week as they look to break their club record with a ninth straight home win in the BBL Championship.
