Top job Nott for Clarke

DAVID CLARKE has ruled himself out of the running to take over as Nottingham’s new boss.

The former Panthers skipper, 36, who has won 15 trophies with the club, has ruled out moving into the hot seat, despite saying he will retire from playing at the end of the season.

But even though he has spent the last two campaigns as assistant to the departing Corey Neilson, he insists: “I’m not interested in taking his job. Playing has been a massive part of my life, to suddenly go straight behind the bench is not something I want to do.

“I have been asked so many times if I want to take over from Corey and the answer is no.”

Clarke, whose teenage son is a Great Britain Under-20 star playing in Canada, added: “I have a one-year-old and Morgan has turned 18 and I want to enjoy seeing him play.” COVENTRY kept their play-off hopes alive with a stunning four-point weekend.

Blaze’s 3-2 win over Guildford on Sunday took them to within a point of Braehead in the eighth and last qualifying slot.

Boss Danny Stewart said: “At this time of the season you’ve just got to find a way to win games.”
