Kompany fears party-poopers

VINCENT Kompany knows Jose Mourinho would love to rain on Manchester City’s title parade.

Manchester United face the prospect of having to beat City at the Etihad on April 7 to stop them being crowned champions.

But Kompany warned Mourinho’s men will be hell bent on keeping the champagne on ice.

“Usually you want to spoil it with everything you’ve got,” said the City skipper (below).

“I know that’s what I would be feeling if I was on the other side.

“Let’s put everything straight first – we just want to win the title. Everything else is a bonus, a cherry on the cake.”

Pep Guardiola’s men need to maintain their 16-point gap over United to be in with a chance of wrapping up the title in the derby clash. City travel to Everton on March 31, while United entertain Swansea. “I cannot think of teams as big and with as much quality as Everton and then United just letting us have a perfect moment,” added Kompany. Even if everything falls into place Kompany doubts whether it will be better than their title win of 2012, when Sergio Aguero scored with virtually the last kick of the game against QPR to wrench the trophy out of United’s hands. The 31-year-old said: “Hopefully we can have that conversation after the game. Right now, nothing feels like it can top the Aguero moment. “Whether we can deliver it is a different discussion. We need to be steady. “I’m very specific in saying that the title is not going to be handed to us.”
