Harry’s World in doubt

- By SCOTT COLEMAN

HARRY KANE is a World Cup doubt for England after being ruled out until May.

The Premier League’s joint-top scorer with 24 damaged ankle ligaments for the third time in 18 months in Tottenham’s 4-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The injury is as serious as the one that kept him out for seven weeks from September 2016.

Kane, 24, could have just a handful of games left to try to regain fitness ahead of England’s World Cup campaign in Russia.

He was injured when his right foot got trapped under Cherries keeper Asmir Begovic. He left the ground on crutches and had to postpone a scan due to the amount of swelling.

It’s bad news for Spurs, who will miss him in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Swansea.

He will then miss the semi-final if they win and at least five league fixtures after the international break – a potential top-four decider against Chelsea and games with Stoke, Manchester City, Brighton and Watford.

Kane will also miss England’s friendlies this month against Holland and Italy, with manager Gareth Southgate naming his squad on Thursday.

Both Southgate and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be praying Kane’s recovery is more in line with when he hurt his ankle for the second time, against Millwall last year.

On that occasion he was backing within a month.
