CALLOUS fans of Sir Ken Dodd were accused last night of cashing in on his death by selling signed memorabilia.

Friends and family are said to be devastated after mementos of the comedy legend went up for auction moments after his death was announced.

Hundreds of items – including rare merchandise, autographed photos and tour props – are listed on the online site eBay for up to £280.

A disgusted friend of Doddy, at a book of condolence event at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton, Merseyside, said: “It’s terrible that these sick people are trying to cash in on a man’s death.

“The items were practically listed within seconds of his passing.

“Ken’s family and friends are devastated that so many people would flog their memories of him.”

The most expensive item is an antique glove puppet of the star on sale for £280.

A signed framed photo is offered for £99.99 and an autographed Ken Dodd and the Diddymen LP is £165.

Sir Ken, who had a No1 hit in 1965 with his song Tears For Souvenirs, died aged 90 on Sunday at his Liverpool home after suffering a chest infection.

The rush to cash in on his death is not the first time a celebrity passing has been exploited on eBay by so-called fans.

The order of service from Graham Taylor’s funeral went on sale hours after the former England manager was laid to rest.

Sellers were also criticised for trying to flog Peaches Geldof ’s dresses minutes after her death was announced in 2014.

The funeral for much-loved Sir Ken – who married his long-time partner Anne Jones, 76, just two days before his death – is expected to take place in his home suburb of Knotty Ash in Liverpool.
