Harry’s top of the shop

HARRY KANE being fit is England manager Gareth Southgate’s jackpot prize in his “World Cup bingo”.

Southgate goes into the warm-up games against Holland and Italy without his injured star striker.

Kane is out for a month after damaging ankle ligaments in Tottenham’s 4-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.

But Southgate said: “It’s part of our World Cup bingo – base camp hotel problems, injuries to key players ...

“I’ve had Harry available for six out of 14 games so far, so we always need a ‘what if’ scenario plan in our minds.

“He’s as robust as any player we have. He’s just unfortunate to be in collisions where he’s going in where it hurts.

“To score goals, you have to put your body on the line.”

Southgate’s main concern is who will be his No.1 keeper, with 74-cap Joe Hart struggling for first-team action at West Ham. Hart, Burnley’s Nick Pope, Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland of Stoke are in the squad.

“We have someone who has been No.1 for a period of time but he isn’t No.1 for his club,” said Southgate.

“We’ve got to pick the keeper in terms of who is going to be the best to play the way we want to play, handle the tournament, handle the experience of being England No.1.

“Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland, although they don’t have senior international experience, they have everything else. We wouldn’t hesitate to put those guys in.”

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere was also named for the first time since the defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.

Fulham whizz-kid Ryan Sessegnon, 17, is in the England Under-21 squad to play Romania and Ukraine.
