JURGEN KLOPP’S phone pinged moments after yesterday’s Champions League quarter-final draw with a message from Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan.

It simply read: “Bis bald.” The pair once worked together at Borussia Dortmund and will go head to head in a tantalisin­g Champions League quarter-final in just over a fortnight between the two remaining Premier League clubs in the competitio­n.

Liverpool boss Klopp said: “Bis bald pretty much means, ‘See you soon’ and I used a Scouse phrase, ‘See ya’.”

But while Gundogan’s text shows he is looking forward to a reunion with his former manager, Klopp believes the Reds are the one club City did not want be drawn with.

The face of City’s director of football Txiki Begiristai­n’s at UEFA’s headquarte­rs in Nyon said it all, according to Klopp.

“It is an absolute dream draw – for all Manchester United fans,” said Klopp.

“I really don’t mind. I saw Txiki Begiristai­n’s face after the draw and it didn’t look like it was Christmas and Easter on the same day.

“I’ve said it before and it’s still the truth, it’s always common in a draw that you’ll get your neighbour, more or less, but to be honest I don’t mind, really.

“When you think about the draw, against the team around the corner you can go by bus, you don’t want it. Everybody is a little like this.
