Morata’s ready to rumble

HEROES: Morata and Pedro are both on target for Chelsea at Leicester ® CHELSEA star Pedro reckons Alvaro Morata is ready to rumble.

Morata has endured a torrid time since the turn of the year as his goal touch deserted him.

The £60m former Real Madrid hitman hadn’t scored in 13 games, stretching back to the win over Brighton on Boxing Day.

But it was the Spanish duo of Pedro and Morata who scored on Sunday as Chelsea booked an FA Cup semi-final clash against Southampton with a 2-1 extra-time victory at Leicester.

Happy

Pedro said: “We’re very happy for him that he’s scored again. He’s a good player and a very important player for us.

“It is important for him to score and get more confidence from now until the end of the season.”

Morata has also been plagued by back problems in his first year at Stamford Bridge but is finally back to full fitness to help Chelsea battle for FA Cup glory and a place in the top four.

“His injury slowed him down but now he’s OK and in good condition to

play in every game and I hope he can stay in this form,” added Pedro.

“It is good for us if he can keep playing well and we can get the maximum out of him. It is very good timing. It is a great moment for us.”

Antonio Conte’s men have made a miserable title defence and crashed out of the Champions League at Barcelona last week.

But Pedro is confident Chelsea can finish the season on a high.

He said: “Beating Leicester was an important win for us and it gives us confidence again for our next game. We are still fighting for the top four and for the FA Cup.

“I am very happy to score and happy with the win and being through to the next round.

“It would be good to win this trophy, it is a great target for me personally, but also for the team because it is a great competition.”

Tottenham are next up in the Premier League after the international break.

Pedro added: “Now we can enjoy the win, relax during the break and get ready for Spurs – because that’s a very important three points for us.”
