Outrage at Telford girls rant
KATIE Hopkins sparked fury yesterday over a jibe comparing Meghan Markle to victims of the Telford child abuse ring.
The ex-Apprentice star tweeted: “Meghan Markle will be preggers faster than an 11yr old white girl in #Telford.”
The post came on Child Sexual Exploitation Day. Telford Tory MP Lucy Allan hit out at Hopkins, and described her comments as “vile”. She said: “Lack of respect for victims is the cause of this horrific crime and is why it is not identified and prosecuted.”
An investigation claimed up to 1,000 girls as young as 11 were drugged, raped and beaten by sexual predators in the Shropshire town.
Twitter users also hit out at the shamed former radio host, describing the comments as “disgraceful and unforgivable”.
One wrote: “It is NOT acceptable to belittle the experiences of children who have been through sexual abuse.”
Another added: “Abuse of a child should never be used to gain anybody’s attention.” And one wrote: “@metpoliceuk surely, a lady about to marry into the Royal Family should not have to undergo this kind of hatred!”
But Hopkins, 43, said she “didn’t give a damn what day” it is.
She said: “It’s another day where our daughters are gang raped by majority Pakistani men.”
