ZLAT IS THE END FOR ME
Man United ace quits
ZLATAN Ibrahimovic has left Manchester United and will join LA Galaxy on a two-year deal today.
The Swede has agreed a contract with the MLS outfit worth just over £700,000 a season.
The 36-year-old striker joined United on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain in 2016.
He helped United win three trophies in his first season before breaking down with a serious knee injury 12 months ago.
Ibrahimovic (above) has not played since being substituted during the Boxing Day draw with Burnley.
He had less than four months remaining on his contract and has agreed a pay off with United after making it clear he wanted Turn to Page 43
against LA FC on March 31. Meanwhile, Mourinho
(below) has had yet another dig at his critics.
He said: “I understand the sadness of being knocked out in the Champions League, but I don’t understand anything more than that. Of course, in the future we want to have 19 clubs behind us but this is the reality, and the reality is for people with a brain, with common sense, with knowledge of what sports is, we are in a moment of transition.” to finish his career in America. Galaxy have been interested in Ibrahimovic for the last 12 months and bought up his ‘discovery rights’ for around £1.5m.
This allowed them to have first option on the former Barcelona and Inter Milan forward if United agreed to let him leave. Ibrahimovic scored 29 goals in 53 appearances for United, including two in the EFL Cup Final win against Southampton last season.
But the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Everton in a £90m deal last summer shoved him down the pecking order and made him less crucial to boss Jose Mourinho’s plans.
Ibrahimovic’s exit was confirmed by United yesterday and he is expected to make his Galaxy debut in the derby
