Bale delight at goal Rush
GARETH BALE last night admitted breaking Ian Rush’s goalscoring record for Wales was one of the greatest achievements of his career. The Real Madrid star
(above) fired in a hat-trick in a 6-0 hammering of China in Nanning, passing Rush’s 28-goal mark with his third.
Sam Vokes scored twice and Harry Wilson also found the net as Ryan from ALEX BYWATER Giggs celebrated his first game in charge with a thumping victory.
Bale, who has won the Champions League three times with Real, said: “This is right up there, a major honour and a massive achievement – if not my greatest.
“Anything you do for your country is the
pinnacle, it is the biggest honour you can have.
“It’s great to break the record and on my daughter Nava’s birthday too, but I couldn’t have done it without my team-mates.
“It’s not just an individual thing, it’s thanks to the whole team, everyone who I’ve played with and all the managers I’ve had.
“The most important thing was to get off to a good start under the new manager and I thought we played very well. We did exactly what Ryan asked.
“We just tried to enjoy ourselves and when we enjoy ourselves, we play our best.
“There are still things to work on, but we are happy with the way we’re going.”
It was Wales’ first hat-trick since Rob Earnshaw’s against Scotland in 2004, and Bale added: “I want to carry on scoring, carry on playing well and take this team as far as we can go.”
