DWARF SHORTAGE
Stag and hen parties face crisis
HUNDREDS of stag and hen parties could be ruined this summer by a lack of dwarfs.
Showbiz bosses revealed that demand for pint-sized performers at celebrations is booming.
And one of the country’s leading agencies supplying dwarf entertainers is struggling to cope.
Hayley B, who runs Hayley B Entertainments, said: “We have to turn quite a lot of bookings away at the moment.
“Certainly if I could take on a few more little people it would help.”
The former model, 34, from Barnsley, South Yorks, fears that unless she recruits more “experienced” performers the shortage will only worsen.
She has now posted Facebook ads in a bid to boost the number of dwarfs on her books. The adverts read: “Little people required. UK based and under 4’9? Earn £100 per hour having fun!”
Hayley said many of her “little people” earn up to £3,000 a week. But demand for dwarfs to appear at functions such as stag dos is still growing.
She said: “It is definitely on the rise. I think a few years ago it wasn’t really part of people’s psyche. But with the likes of Warwick Davis it has put a lasting impression on people that little people can actually go on to have a career.”
Hayley added: “Most of our little people have been in films like Harry Potter and Star Wars or on the Channel 4 show Seven Dwarves.
“They have done TV and they are professionally trained entertainers.”
