Mat: My Shrews won’t slip

- By TIM GRAY

® MAT SADLER plans to continue helping surprise packages Shrewsbury home in on promotion.

The Shrews defender has co-founded his own property investment company – Sadler & Partridge – off the pitch.

And he has laid the foundations on it as Shrewsbury battle big guns Blackburn and Wigan at the top of League One.

Few would have put their mortgage on Paul Hurst’s men cementing their place in the promotion race at the start of the season.

But Sadler reckons Shrewsbury’s hot properties can continue building on their success as they target a top-two finish.

Sadler, who faces AFC Wimbledon today, said: “Nobody expected us to be up there and everyone believed we would fall away.

“People still think we will – even at this stage of the season.

“But I had a good feeling when we met up in pre-season and we have just kicked on from there.

“We want our efforts to count for something and everyone is pushing one another to help us go up.”

Ex-Birmingham star Sadler, 33, had been round the houses after playing for 10 different clubs before finally making a home at Shrewsbury.

He added: “It’s a real family club and we are all pulling in the same direction.

“We have proven that team spirit goes a long way. If you can find the right mix of players, which the manager has found, then you can stay up there.” EXETER defender Troy Archibald-Henville (knee) could return against his former club. Jordan Moore-Taylor (knee) is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Swindon’s Ollie Banks (ban) is available and Ryan McGivern could make his full debut. FOREST GREEN hope to have top scorer Christian Doidge (ankle) back in contention. Defender Dan Wishart faces a late fitness test.

Mansfield will give late tests to Zander Diamond (hamstring) and Jacob Mellis (ankle). David Mirfin (knee) remains sidelined. MAX MULLER is back in training for Morecambe after a family bereavement, but Kevin Ellison (hamstring) and Steve Old (knee) are struggling.

Lincoln skipper Luke Waterfall completes a three-match ban, but fellow defender James Wilson could be handed a starting berth. NEWPORT will complete their campaign without injured captain Joss Labadie (knee), while Calaum Jahraldo-Martin is on duty with Antigua and Barbuda.

Crewe full-backs Jamie Sterry and Zoumana Bakayogo face late fitness tests. Ross Woodcock, Chris Porter and Ryan Wintle are definite absentees. STEVENAGE striker Alex Revell (ban) returns for Dino Maamria’s first game in charge and Ronnie Henry could be back. Ben Wilmot, Ben Kennedy and Dale Gorman are on international duty.

Colchester striker Kurtis Guthrie will be omitted again for disciplinary reasons by John McGreal.
