EASTER will be one of the busiest bank holidays ever as Brits head out after the terrible winter.

Four out of five motorists – 26million – are planning a leisure trip over the weekend, according to the AA.

It could lead to traffic hell just as the Beast From The East returns with more snow.

And for anyone heading to the south coast, there is even the risk of a shark after a mysterious 25ft creature with a fin was spotted off Devon.

The AA believes the early Easter is encouraging more people to fit in a holiday before the long wait for the schools’ summer break. Traffic is expected to peak on Saturday.

AA patrolman of the year Vince Crane urged families to carry out vehicle checks and pack supplies.

He said: “Pack some musthaves for long journeys like a sat-nav or atlas, a fully charged mobile phone and any time-dependent medication in case of delays.

“With the Met Office signalling the possibility of a return of the Beast From The East, don’t take your winter emergency kit out of the car just yet.”

Highways England is removing 300 miles of roadworks from England’s motorways and major A-roads to ease the flow.

But services on some of Britain’s busiest rail routes will be suspended due to £118million of engineering work by Network Rail.

Passengers on the West Coast Main Line will have to use replacement buses on some stretches in Scotland and the north between Saturday and Monday.

London Euston will close on Sunday, with reduced services on other days.

No trains will run between Bristol Parkway, Temple Meads and Yatton/ Bath Spa from Friday to Tuesday.

There will also be disruption to services between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, as well as routes serving Paddington.

Meanwhile, astonished Tristan Severn-Jones snapped the creature he believes was “a huge shark” off Bovisand, Devon.

He said: “It was 20-25 feet long. The fin looked a bit like a great white, not a basking shark.”
