A MAN who killed a twoyear-old boy and his sixyear-old brother in a hit-and-run crash had been released from prison only six days earlier.

Robert Brown, 53, caused the deaths of Casper and Corey Platt-May when he ploughed his Ford Focus into them as they walked to the park on February 22.

They were taken to hospital but Casper was declared dead.

Doctors operated on his elder brother but could not save him.

Brown, right, had only been out of prison for six days after earlier being jailed for possessing a machete.

Brown was disqualified from driving when he smashed his black Ford Focus into the family at 2pm in Coventry before fleeing the scene.

The yob, of Wyken, Coventry, remained emotionless as he admitted two counts of causing death by dangerous driving at Warwick Crown Court.

He also admitted driving while disqualified, using a motor vehicle without insurance and using a motor vehicle without a licence. It was a different story at his first appearance in the dock when the thug twice kicked off, shouting: “This is a f***ing kangaroo court” and calling the magistrate a “f***ing p***k”. The boys’ mum Louise, who witnessed the collision, said: “Casper was a cheeky little boy, always getting into trouble and driving his brothers crazy. “But he was so loving and caring. “Corey was an amazing boy. He never kept still, always had to be doing something and coming up with new i deas of things to do.” A JustGiving page raised more than £26,000 for funeral costs with 1,500 people donating. Hundreds gathered at Coventry Cathedral last week to pay their respects. Brown was remanded in custody for sentencing on April 27. Co-accused Gwendoline Harrison, 42, who was a passenger in the car, admitted assault after hitting a member of the public as the pair fled the scene.
