Dom in Blades booster

- By DAVE ARMITAGE

EVERTON youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin has added motivation to play a starring role for England Under-21s tonight.

The Toffees striker has been a Sheffield United fan since a kid and is desperate for the call to feature in the Euro 2019 qualifier against Ukraine at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield-born CalvertLewin will have a small army of family and friends in the stands for the crucial clash.

So much so that he has been getting endless ribbing off the rest of the squad on his return to the club where it all started.

Calvert-Lewin said: “All the lads know I’m a Blade.

“Sheffield United is a huge part of my life still, so going back, although it might feel a little bit strange at first, is going to be a great occasion.

“The same goes for my family and friends, who are all going to be there, which will make it an even more special occasion.”

England boss Gareth Southgate holds CalvertLewin in high regard and he was called up to train with the senior squad back in November.

But the forward knows he has plenty of time on his side and was not too upset at missing out on a call this time around.

He added: “I’m still young. I know there was speculation there but I need to be scoring goals.

“It’s my dream to play for England at senior level, so it would have been nice. But it was not to be.”
