‘Seriously ill’ killer Rose under armed guard
SERIAL killer Rose West has been taken to hospital under armed guard.
West, 64, is serving life for murdering four girls and six women with her monster husband Fred, right.
Last night a source said: “A woman came in being pushed in a wheelchair.
“It was Rose West.”
MONSTER Rose West has been taken to hospital and put in a secure room just metres from the public, it can be revealed.
The seriously ill 64-year-old serial killer was spotted being pushed in a wheelchair through a ward.
Armed police escorted the frail murderer, who killed 10 women and children with her husband Fred, to a hidden room on an emergency visit.
A hospital source has told how she was wheeled along with a blanket over her head to hide her identity.
West has been ill for some time and it is feared her health may now have finally taken a turn for the worse.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, the source said: “A woman came in being pushed in a wheelchair with their head covered in a blanket. Obviously, a lot of people on the ward looked round.
“She got taken to a side room. You’ve got to be really, really, really poorly to get one of these side rooms. So they definitely put her in there because of who she was.
“I’ve got to know someone who works at the hospital since visiting a relative there and they’ve asked me, ‘Do you know who that was?’ and I’ve said, ‘No’. They said, ‘You’re not going to believe this. It’s Rose West’.”
The source claimed the worker categorically identified her and “swears on their life” it is her.
Our insider added: “She’s only in a room across the ward from normal patients. I can’t believe it.” The source said there had been chatter at the hospital before about her being there on previous occasions.
It is believed West is being kept in a room that leads to an older part of the hospital in the north of England and the door is constantly shut.
There is no name on the room, unlike every other room.
The Daily Star revealed last year how West, who is serving life at HMP Low Newton, in Co. Durham, had been struck down by a life-threatening illness behind bars. It is also thought that she is going blind. A prison insider revealed yesterday how the notorious killer is barely recognisable.
“She’s been ill for a while and occasionally gets escorted to hospital,” they told us.
“She goes to hospital regularly under guard, more often than the public knows from what I’ve been told. She’s got a few conditions, including diabetes. She’s out quite regularly for treatment. “You wouldn’t recognise her. “She looks totally different to the person she was when they released the photograph in 1995.”
West was convicted of 10 murders. Her husband never saw justice after killing himself in prison on New Year’s Day 1995 while awaiting trial for 12 murders.
The infamous house of horrors at 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester, where the bodies of some of their victims were buried, was knocked down in 1996.
A hospital spokesman refused to deny Rose West had been on the ward, stating: “We cannot comment on any individual cases.”
A Ministry of Justice spokesman declined to comment but said there was no serious concern for West’s health.
