Meghan and Harry's red-hot royal wedding

Sun to shine on royal couple as scorcher looms

- By RUTH McKEE ruth.mckee@dailystar.co.uk

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle will have a red hot wedding day.

The couple will enjoy a spring scorcher as they get hitched in Windsor on May 19.

And millions of Brits will toast the happy couple in sizzling temperatures of up to 27C as the mercury soars next month.

Harry will need to wear all the sun protection he can on his big day to dodge a wedding night burn as the sun is due to beat down on the couple and their guests.

With blisteringly blue skies over much of Britain next month, royal watchers will cram pubs to celebrate the event.

And the balmy temperatures will bring monarchists flocking to street parties the length and breadth of Britain to toast the couple.

Forecaster Brian Gaze from The Weather Outlook said: “As the continental land mass heats up, patterns of winds from the east bring real warmth later in spring.

“Temperatures of 27C would not be a surprise in the second half of May.”

After the bone-chilling Beast From The East battered Britain for much of February and March, the Met Office’s long-range forecast should give chilled sun-seekers reasons to be cheerful. Their April-June forecast said: “Conditions favour weather patterns bringing lower-than-average temperatures in early to mid-April. “For April-June as a whole, aboveaverage temperatures are marginally more likely than below-average.” The favourable forecast will also give hope to sports fans planning for a host of events in May and June. Punters at The Epsom Derby on June 2 and Royal Ascot race meeting from June 19 to 23 will need to be armed with sunscreen and wide-brimmed hats. Both big events are set to be bathed in sultry temperatures and clear skies. And schoolchildren who were treated to days off when Britain was carpeted in snow can now bask in a barbecue summer over the Whitsun half-term break from May 26 to June 3. Last summer a heatwave in June saw summer highs hit 34.5C – Britain’s second hottest June day for 167 years and the hottest June day since 1976. Wet spells in the next few weeks will be followed by tropical heat blasts.
