PETER KAY’S SECRET STAND-UP COMEBACK

Fans fight for ‘I’m Not Dead’ tour

COMIC Peter Kay’s fans last night begged for a new tour after his surprise weekend stand-up show.

They want a 100-date “I’m Not Dead” gig marathon as the TV star looks back to his best.

PETER Kay fans last night called on him to do an “I’m Not Dead” comeback after a welcome live appearance.

Fake news of the TV funnyman’s demise has surfaced almost daily on social media sites since he cancelled a £40million, 109-gig UK tour.

He blamed “unforeseen family circumstances” for the announcement in December. But Peter, 44, buried the rumours when he took to the stage at Blackpool Opera House to thank fans for turning up to see two charity episodes of Car Share.

Such was the demand for tickets he had to add two extra shows over the weekend, raising £120,000 for The Lily Foundation, which is fighting to find a cure for a rare genetic disease.

Thousands took to Twitter to praise the shows – the last ever episode of the series and an entirely improvised one. But it was the funnyman’s unexpected personal appearance which had fans in raptures.

He went on just after the 15-minute interval – in front of a “P*** break” sign on screen.

Just before that his voice was heard on speaker saying “now then, now then” in a Jimmy Savile style.

Referring to evil Savile, Peter later quipped: “I’d like to say we forgive you, but we don’t.” In footage posted on Twitter, Peter said: “Thank you very much for supporting The Lily Foundation raising money for mitochondrial disease. Very kind of you. I appreciate it. “Enjoy the last ever episode of Car Share. Don’t tell anyone the end. Or tell anyone about any hedgehogs.” Bowing as he left, he added: “So thank you. Lots of love, enjoy, take care, bye-bye.” Fans took to Twitter to slam those who had posted bogus stories about the star – and to beg him to launch a new tour. Rachel MacFarlane wrote: “Can’t wait for #peterkay next tour – I’m not dead tour!” Lee Hemmings messaged: “Peter Kay looking lively for someone who apparently died 57 times last month.” Peter’s decision to scrap his stand-up tour – which would have been his first for eight years – devastated 1.7million fans with tickets to see him across Britain. The dad-of-three gave his “sincerest apologies” after cancelling all future “live work”. The Star Says: Page 6
