Pair speak out in new ‘green’ show

THE Queen and Sir David Attenborough have taken a pop at the “snowflakes” trying to stop children playing with conkers for health and safety reasons.
They will be seen discussing the killjoys in a new ITV documentary.
Her Majesty, who loves to keep up-to-date with the news, asks Sir David: “Was it recently that someone tried to stop children playing conkers?”
And The Blue Planet star replies: “On the grounds of health and safety? Really. You’d think they’ll stop people breathing.”
The royal, who will turn 92 this month, teamed up with Sir David, who is 91, for ITV’s forthcoming documentary The Queen’s Green Planet.
They will be seen strolling around Buckingham Palace discussing her plans to create a protected canopy of trees second only in size to the Amazon rainforest.
So far she has persuaded more than 40 Commonwealth countries to sign up to the scheme which aims to reverse the impact of climate change.
In the TV show, she shows off the palace’s huge tree collection.
She points out she planted an oak tree after the birth of each of her four children and the naturalist struggles to read the label attached to one of them, later admitting to the Radio Times: “I couldn’t find my glasses.”
Sir David also says how “lucky” they both are – in their 90s and still able to walk. The programme airs on ITV on April 16.
