BONKERS BBC OFFERS £78K FOR DAFT JOBS

- By RUTH McKEE ruth.mckee@dailystar.co.uk

BONKERS BBC bosses are offering mega money salaries for four baffling new jobs.

The Heads of Change roles will net new recruits up to £78,000 a year for doing bizarre tasks including “re-inventing and growing radio”.

A job description for the radio and music department tells confused candidates “the change ® will be as much about how we do things as what we do”.

And a jargon translator is needed to work in the Beeb’s “culture and progression project” – an equality unit set up in the wake of the gender pay gap scandal that blew up at the corporation last year.

Puzzled applicants were told: “The head of change will ensure the change environment is understood and that effective change leadership is in place.”

The broadcaster was slammed last year when it advertised for a “Head of Change” position in its infrastructure, services, operations and commercial department.

Clueless telly bosses did not even spot that the bizarre job titles could have been taken straight from the BBC’s own satirical show W1A.

The mockumentary features the struggles of hapless Ian Fletcher, played by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville, whose confusing job title is “Head of Values”.

Even the BBC’s own broadcasters have poked fun, with Radio 4 veteran Eddie Mair saying: “If you become head of change, how do you know when to stop changing?”

A BBC spokesman said: “While the job title ‘head of change’ might amuse some, it’s used in businesses up and down the country.”
