TWIN IT TO WIN IT
Giant chance for brothers
TEENAGE twins Louis and Innes Senior are on peanuts but would love to make monkeys out of their megabucks opponents.
The 17-year-old Huddersfield starlets have been earning little more than the part-time minimum wage so far.
But the Giants hope they’ve hit the jackpot with the deadly double act who both lined up on the wing against Castleford on Sunday.
Louis made his debut on Good Friday against Leeds, which meant facing stars Ryan Hall and Kallum Watkins.
Innes’ bow came three days later against another star-studded side, Catalans in Perpignan.
And after shining together against Cas, the academy kids hope to finalise talks on their first full-time contracts.
The deals will kick in when the boys finishing college in two months’ time and Louis can’t wait.
Opportunity
“We sometimes train with the first team and it’s nerve-wracking,” said the 6ft 3in, 15-stone player. “I’m one of the bigger lads in the academy but in the first team I’m a good three stones lighter than some.
“I’ve been a Huddersfield fan all my life and it’s surreal playing together for them.
“Injuries have played their part but we’re thrilled to get this opportunity so early – I did not expect it at all.”
Innes scored two tries against the Tigers in the 28-40 defeat and said: “I loved it. Having my brother on the field makes me better.
“If I see him doing something, I want to replicate it. We’re both pushing each other.”
Caretaker coach Chris Thorman has nurtured the twins through the age groups and Innes says that has been a huge help.
He added: “He’s put a lot of belief in us. I don’t think many coaches would throw in young players with no experience.”
Thorman said: “You do not want to put in a kid who will get bullied, but they are both physically ready.” ¬Ê HULL KR forward Chris Clarkson is facing a potential five-match ban after being charged with a dangerous throw in Saturday’s 31-12 win over Widnes.
