ANGRY friends of Henry Vincent have vowed revenge on the pensioner who stabbed him to death in a botched burglary.

Homeowner Richard OsbornBrooks killed Vincent, 37, when he found the thief ransacking his house.

The 78-year-old was cleared by police after originally being arrested on suspicion of murder.

But he has been forced into hiding with wife Maureen for fear of reprisal attacks.

One traveller, who knew the Vincent family for many years, warned: “They won’t get over a death of one of their own and they won’t rest until they get their revenge against anyone who takes a cherished loved one.”

Police investigating the incident last night released the first picture of Vincent’s alleged accomplice, who has not been seen since last week’s bungled raid.

Billy Jeeves, 28, fled the home in Hither Green, south London, after the burglary went wrong. A burned-out ® van believed to be involved in the attempted raid was found in Orpington, south-east London, at the weekend. A police spokesman said: “Detectives have released an image of a man they want to trace following an aggravated burglary in Lewisham. “Billy Jeeves, 28, is being sought by police following the burglary, committed at an address in Hither Green SE6 at around 00:45hrs on Wednesday, 4 April. “Jeeves has links to Orpington and Swanley in Kent, and Cambridge. “Police also want to hear from anybody who may have seen his vehicle, a white Vauxhall Astra van with registration GU52 AXT – in the days and hours before and after the burglary.” Family and gypsy friends of Vincent put dozens of flowers in his honour on a fence near Mr OsbornBrooks’s home. Many wore hoods so they could not be recognised. One card said: “To my Henry. Can’t believe this has happened your gonna be missed more then words can ever say.”
