PAYING your own way for work travel puts you in line for a serious tax refund, especially in the building game.

With the new tax year starting last week, the countdown’s started to claim back what HMRC owes you. From filing tax returns to submitting refund claims, RIFT are the experts in putting your money back in your pocket. Paying out to travel to temporary worksites can leave a serious dent in your wallet each year. It makes no difference whether you’re using your own vehicle or public transport. If you’re shelling out yourself then the taxman’s sitting on money that belongs to you. The same goes for all your essential work expenses, from the food you eat to replacing your tools. As long as you’re not being reimbursed in full, you should be claiming some tax back. On average, you could easily be looking at a refund of £600-£800 a year.

If you’re self-employed in the building trade, you’ve also got the Construction Industry Scheme eating into your income. That’s 20% of your pay forked over to HMRC before you even get a sniff of it. An average CIS claim runs to £2,000 every year – but you’ve got to make some noise before the taxman will hand it over.

That’s what RIFT Refunds is all about. They’re the leading experts in tax returns and refunds and they’ve already clawed back more than £175m in refunds for 73,000 workers.

All told, HMRC sits on about £180m that ought to be getting refunded every single year. That’s one in three British workers losing out, either because they don’t know they’re owed or don’t know how to get it back.

Even if you’ve never claimed before, it still might not be too late.

RIFT can check up to four years back to see what you’re owed – and get it back for you fast.

RIFT has been tackling the taxman for builders, groundworkers, scaffolders, electricians and more since 1999. They’re specialists in the building trade, and will get you the biggest refund possible.

“I’ve been self-employed for two years. One of the RIFT team came on site and completed my tax return during my break. After a few weeks I got a cheque through! I didn’t even know I could claim for using public transport. I now plan to buy my first car with my refund.” – Carpenter Lucian Florea: £2,951.40 refund.

It costs nothing to find out what HMRC owes you. RIFT can deal directly with the taxman on your behalf, so you never have to sit on his phone queues or decipher his jargon. If it turns out you’re not owed anything, they won’t even charge you a penny!

RIFT Refunds is all about taking the hassle out of Self Assessment tax returns and tax refunds.

They handle all the homework, legwork and paperwork for you.

All you need to work out is how you’ll spend the money! ¬
