Kane is back in the hunt

- By PAUL BROWN

HARRY KANE is hot on the heels of Mo Salah again after being handed another goal yesterday.

The England hitman now has 25 league strikes after winning his appeal for Tottenham’s second against Stoke last weekend to be given to him instead of team-mate Christian Eriksen.

Winning the disputed strike puts him four behind Liverpool star Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. Salah responded by Tweeting: “Woooooow really?”

Kane now has 36 in all competitions – the most by a Spurs player in a single season since Clive Allen scored 49 in 1986-87.

Kane, 24, always insisted Eriksen’s free-kick had grazed his shoulder before crossing the line on Saturday saying: “I swear

on my daughter’s life that I touched the ball.

“If they turn it around, they turn it around.

“Obviously, as a striker, it would be great to win the Golden Boot again and I will keep working hard from now until the end of the season.”

The Premier League’s goal accreditation appeals panel, which is made up of a former player, manager and referee, agreed.

The three-man panel overturned the original decision after looking at the film again and considering Kane’s version of events.

A Premier League spokesman said: “After taking the player’s testimony into account and reviewing the match footage, a three-person panel agreed that the final touch on the ball belonged to Kane.”

He now has six games to try to beat the Egyptian, beginning against Manchester City at Wembley this Saturday.

If he does it, he will become the first player since Thierry Henry to finish as Premier League top scorer three seasons in a row.
