The Randox Health Grand National takes place tomorrow with 40 horses galloping for glory at Aintree.
Punters up and down the country will be tuning in to see all the action at 5.15pm on ITV while 75,000 will pack the racecourse to soak up the electric atmosphere.
And bookies are bracing themselves for their busiest day of the year. Last year’s race was won by One For Arthur, with jockey Derek Fox on board.
This year, Ireland has a strong showing with hot favourites including Total Recall and Alpha des Obeaux.
Blaklion – who finished fourth last year – is also highly fancied while Tiger Roll, who won at Cheltenham last month, is another in with a shot.
But whether you plan to have a flutter or not, you can still have fun thanks to our sweepstake. Set it up with your workmates or pals. The panel on the right lists all 40 runners plus the four reserves who will run if another horse withdraws.
Cut out each name, fold them all up and put them into a hat.
As each person draws a horse, write his or her name in the box next to the relevant runner in the master chart on the left. If you charge each person £1 for a horse, this will produce a kitty of £40. Check whether there have been any withdrawals – and whether the reserves will need to be substituted for the non-runners.
We suggest a first prize of £20, a second of £10, £6 for third and £4 for fourth. But it’s up to you. Just make sure you explain the rules to all those taking part before taking their money!
