FANCY a new Ford Focus? You do? Well in that case you’re in luck because the new 2018 Focus has just gone on sale.
The good news is that the starting price has actually dropped by £2,300. So what’s the bad news, I hear you say. Yeah, you’re right, there is some.
You may be able to buy one now but you won’t see it until next September at best, say Ford.
If you can afford more than £17,930 for starter car the Focus Style there are seven models to pick from. There’s the Zetec (£19,300), Titanium (£21,550), ST-Line (£21,570), ST-Line X (£24,050), Titanium X (£22,820) and Vignale (£25,450).
Mind you, even the basic Style isn’t short on kit. It’s got 16-inch alloys, air con, DAB radio with Bluetooth, an electronic parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring and hill start assist. At the top of the range the Vignale turns the Focus into a small limo, featuring 18-inch alloys, LED lights, leather upholstery, head-up display, rear view camera, heated steering wheel and a 675-watt 10-speaker sound system. It’s also available in an exclusive paint job called Dark Mulberry. So if you want folk to know you can afford to buy a posh Focus get one in dark red. I’ll stick with blue.
Despite its typical SUV-style height and threat it still manages to look classy. Bentley badges etched into each headlight are a neat touch. Total monster. BACKSIDE BEAUTY: Foot wide twin exhausts act as more than a hint to its power, but apart from the Bentley badge it could be confused with any big SUV. PLAYTIME PLEASER: Satnav, cruise control with speed limiter, trip computer, three zone climate control, keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors with cameras, electric tailgate, electric heated door mirrors with blind spot warning, heated and cooled electric leather seats with memory, suck shut doors, electric steering wheel adjustment, DAB stereo with Bluetooth, four USB, twin SD, SIM port and aux connections.
Why even bother with a single shopping bag hook that’s just 10 inches above the boot floor. A normal shopping bag is 19 inches long. TASTY TOUCHES: Rear seat passengers get USB ports.
