BARRY DOUGLAS helped Wolves deliver the Championship title – now he hopes the midwife can perform just as smoothly.

Scotland international Douglas and model wife Debbie are expecting their first child this summer.

It will put the icing on the cake for the left-back, 28, who got Wolves’ title celebrations started with the opening goal in a stylish win over Bolton.

He said: “It’s been an incredible couple of months. Achieving promotion to the Premier League as champions is the stuff kids dream of.

“And the baby will top everything off. That will be the biggest achievement of this season I think!”

Douglas won the Polish league at Lech Poznan but he admits being crowned champs in his first season at Wolves means more.

“At Lech we went to the town square and there were close to 100,000 fans there,” he added.

“They’re very passionate over there and I’m sure Wolverhampton will be full as well when we get to celebrate with the fans. I think this just pips it a wee bit because of what’s at stake. To be able to ply our trade in the Premier League is special.”

Benik Afobe, Diogo Jota and Conor Coady’s penalty sealed an emphatic win which left Bolton two points above the drop zone.

They face an anxious trip to 23rd-placed Burton next with midfielder Karl Henry urging his teammates to hold their nerve.

He said: “You need calm heads and people that have been there before, which we’ve certainly got.

“When you’re fighting relegation and you manage to come out of the other side it’s like surviving a car crash.

“It’s so different as opposed to winning something. I think it’s arguably more rewarding and important.

“For me keeping Bolton up this season would be right up there with the greatest achievements of my career.”
