Comic Peter unveils totally unscripted episode Fans hope over Kay’s comeback
COMIC Peter Kay has sparked hopes of a full TV and stage comeback after admitting it was “absolutely wonderful” to see an audience laugh again at his gags.
He spoke as the BBC prepares to screen two new episodes of BAFTA award-winning sitcom Car Share.
PETER Kay fans will be treated to two new episodes of Car Share as the funnyman sparks hopes of a comeback.
The star was forced to cancel a huge UK tour last year due to family circumstances.
But a surprise appearance during a charity screening in Blackpool has got fans hoping he will return to TV and stage.
Kay, 44, admitted it was “wonderful” and “rewarding” seeing fans laugh at his comedy.
And now the BBC are about to air two new episodes of his Bafta award-winning sitcom.
One is completely unscripted with Kay and co-star Sian Gibson making up all the dialogue.
Kay – who is married to Susan Gargan and has teen sons Charlie and Finley – said: “We just reacted to whatever came on the radio and just went with it, good or bad. We hope people like it.”
Sian, 41, said: “We were always laughing, and nearly all of the laughter you see in Car Share is completely genuine.
“Peter knows how to make me laugh with just a look.”
Car Share Unscripted will air on Monday, with the final ever episode of the show going out on May 28 – when viewers will see if characters John and Kayleigh finally get together.
Thousands were left upset when Kay had to cancel his 110gig UK tour last year.
But after going on stage at Blackpool Opera House for his charity screenings, the comedy favourite said: “It’s absolutely wonderful hearing an audience react to what you’ve been so hard working on for so long.”
