HEAT’S ON FOR BANK HOLIDAY
THERE’S a 22C Bank Holiday BBQ scorcher on the cards this weekend after a miserably wet start to the week.
Torrential rain hit much of the country yesterday, but Brits will finally be basking in glorious sunshine by the weekend.
A soggy few days will be followed by a heatwave which is expected to see temperatures soar to 22C on Bank Holiday Monday.
A month’s rain fell in some areas yesterday with gale force winds and temperatures as low as 4C.
Sizzling
Today will feel warmer, drier and brighter with only a few outbreaks of rain. Temperatures are expected to creep up to 13C.
By tomorrow a new weather system from the Atlantic will bring more wet weather.
But this will slowly dry out and the mercury could be tipping a balmy 18C on Friday.
Families will be racing to the beach or dusting off the BBQs as it hits the mid 20s over the weekend, peaking with that sizzling 22C to come on Monday.
Eleanor Bell, head meteorologist at The Weather Channel, said: “We are looking at 19-21C for the Bank Holiday weekend in the south although it will be cloudier with some showers over the north-west.
“Temperatures could be higher because the jet stream may become situated farther north, allowing pressure to build over the UK.”
